Pilates & Neuromuscular Re-education: Maiya Greaves/Wisdombody Movement Resources
Pilates is an effective and holistic system of exercise that teaches body awareness, develops strong core musculature, and promotes the optimum balance of strength and flexibility. Maiya specializes in facilitating safe exercise experiences for people who have been compromised in enjoying movement, whether because of injury or because of body image conflicts. She has developed and teaches a repertoire of exercises that are the building blocks of properly and safely executed Pilates. Her Wisdombody approach is based on the premise that each body has its own wisdom: ways of moving, standing and relating to gravity that are efficient, effortless and pleasurable. Maiya provides each client with a highly individualized movement program to help them connect with this birthright, adapting Pilates to all levels of fitness and ability and to all body shapes and sizes. Through Neuromuscular Re-education, she assists those with chronic injuries in profoundly changing their musculo-skeletal strategies towards healthier, injury-free movement patterns. Maiya offers private and semi-private equipment classes and group mat classes. She also offers consulation and supervision for bodywork and movement professionals.
